![]() Man is always striving to attain progress. Some of the ancient civilizations are vanishing under his footsteps towards development. He is mad after new cultures now emerging. Other western cultures and civilizations are also trying their best to encroach upon present order. Despite the persistent western attempt to disrupt the present mode of human life, it has virtually become indeed an insurmountable problem. As the vigorous progress of science and technology has created imbalance in the entire world, in the backdrop of the conflict between protective and disruptive forces man is unable to decide which way to go. Everywhere we hear a call for globalization. With the advent of TV and internet, the world has virtually been transformed in to a global village and it has now become possible to simultaneously watch and listen to events taking place in far-off countries. These welcome or unwelcome, vexatious or agreeable influences are causing adverse effect on the other countries too. One apprehends that our culture and civilization is virtually in danger of extinction and we are caught in a dilemma. A glance at these prevailing ancient rural India’s state of affairs, innumerable thoughts and ideas pass in our mind. During that era, the entire rural populace was a cohesive institution. Then it appeared that the farmer or tiller was the focus of the entire rural and social life. It looked as through each one was very co-operative in other’s life. Their needs were very limited. They were mutually managing in accomplishing their respective needs or requirements. There being absence of undue ambitions, they were leading a very simple and contented life. Today our sentiments and/or notions have undergone radical changes. Differences have cropped up in their working. Instead of the spirit of co-operation, competition has set in. One is prepared to go to the extent of causing maximum harm to his opponent. Each one is trying and inviting anger or passion, exasperation and disbelief and because of all this, there is total absence of contentment. Brahmins belonged to the highest caste. Being Brahmin, if he starts the business of selling leather footwear, no one would call him a member of the community which engages in making of leather goods (Cobblers).A man running a beauty parlor would not be branded as a barber. If a downtrodden person put up a grocery shop is not called a ‘Vaishya’ (merchant). Such avocations can be followed by anyone irrespective of one’s tendency. This being the true position, one is at a loss to know as to why these people are branded as one belonging to a particular creed. However such is the prevalent custom. The primary objective of ‘Siddhagiri Museum’ is to convince the present generation that such attitude was never existent then. Museum which is coming in this area is a humble attempt for retrospection and to emphasize upon the then civilization and culture. Art is dynamic and a reflection of life. An elephant can be contained in the mirror. The propriety for setting up this museum is manifold. It will encourage and inspire people to do social thinking and to create such awareness amongst them. It will assist them in bringing out prospective and bright future on the basis of past experience. By trying to make this art public oriented and in a bid to preserve and protect this art, it shall render its assistance to the people at large, their culture and civilization. Such free expression of these various facts sung by man in the form of music, received a wide applause. Such applause gave birth to a rhythm. The movement of feet was done in rhythm; this took a form of music. The movement and action of birds and beasts were engraved by man either on stone, rock or such other substances which later on came to be known as ‘Pictures’. The expressions carved on such stone became what are known as sculptures. A dwelling was so constructed that it should look like a temple and it was called an edifice. We narrated the experiences gained in a life and presented them in a song became a ‘Poetry’. Having mutually performed, watched and experienced by each one of them in their day to day life, all these activities were termed by the posterity as ‘Art’. The word ‘Culture’ implies all above mentioned activities of man. Hence it has today become indispensible to protect and preserve civilization and culture through this art. The intent and purpose of this project is to highlight the differences between 1.The fertile land then available. 2.The enriched crop yielded by such lands. 3.The people nourished on consuming such enriched produced and efficiency acquired there from on one side, while the present life led by people consuming crops produced by the use of hybrid seeds, chemicals and fertilizers, insecticides etc. on the other side. Today in the society we find various virtuous personalities. If we don’t try take into consideration the causes behind such activities done by virtuous men, such conduct becomes meaningless. Sometimes feeling of hatred also enters in our mind in that regard. It is therefore imperative to know the significance of our culture which itself shall lead us to love the same. It is very essential to impress upon the young generation such significance of culture. Otherwise the possibility of encroachment upon our culture by alien culture can’t be ruled out. Doubtless, this museum shall certainly accomplish the act of preserving and protecting our culture. |
